Over 35 teachers recently gathered at Elijah’s for our annual MTAC San Diego Fall Breakfast, hosted by the San Diego Branch Board. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect after the summer and kick off a brand-new musical year.
HIGHLIGHTS
Leadership: The current board was introduced – Brian Goral, Chutaphin Yeager, Miriam Cole, Jay Jay Lim, Emily Balderrama, Mei Yin, Hua Wang, Ken Ard, Dan Yu and Eleanor Hum, along with a special thank-you to Past President Yuko Maruyama for her dedicated work.
Annual State Conventions: Members were reminded that the 2027 “Making Waves” convention takes place June 29–July 2 at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey, followed by San Diego hosting the 2028 convention at the Hilton Bayfront.
Gift Bags: Attendees received a mug featuring the new MTAC branch logo, a deadline bookmark, and a 20% off discount card from Bob Toshack at MR Musical Notes.
Calendar & Events: 1st Vice President Chutaphin Yeager walked through the upcoming year’s schedule. Highlights include MSSL and the renaming of the Popular Music Festival to the Showcase, which now incorporates original compositions.
